What’s the Festival like?
The Festival is two-days of entertainment for adults, and older children featuring some of the best storytellers from across the country. The evening concerts offer a variety of stories and storytelling styles, as each of our featured tellers takes a turn under the tent canopy stage. Saturday daytime you can see the featured tellers and local student tellers, as well as enjoy puppet shows, music, and arts & craft demonstrations.
Please understand this is not a book festival. Nor is it an arts & crafts fair, a speech contest, a kid's carnival, or an outdoor version of the library's story time for children. Our storytellers are exceptional performers of one of the oldest human art forms: oral storytelling.
The Festival is outdoors in Simpson Plaza at Frisco Square. Story concerts will be held under tent canopies. (See: What's the weather like? and What should I bring?) Concerts are open seating with chairs provided.
Frisco Square is across Main Street from Pizza Hut Park (the soccer stadium) and the events will take place in Simpson Plaza, directly in front of the Frisco Public Library and City Hall in the heart of the Frisco Square.

Should I bring my kids?
The Festival is not designed to be a children only event. The Bedtime Stories Concert (Saturday at 6 p.m.) is the most appropriate event for younger children. We suggest that the Saturday daytime (10 a.m. - 4 p.m.) concerts, the Favorite Stories Concert (Friday 8 p.m.) and the Laughing Night Concert (Saturday 8 p.m.) are most appropriate for adults and children ages 10 and up. Younger children may not have the attention span to sit for a full storytelling concert. Of course, you are your own best judge of what your kids can handle.

What’s the weather like?
One thing we can’t do is guarantee the weather, but the show will go on rain or shine. The average high for this weekend in October is 75 degrees with an average low of 53 degrees. In the event of rain, performances are held within tents on the Plaza. (No refunds for bad weather).

What should I bring?
• If it’s sunny sunglasses, sunscreen, and perhaps a hat if you’re coming for the daytime events. • If it’s chilly a sweater, sweatshirt, or windbreaker especially for the evening concerts. • Friends! • Extra spending money, for an audio souvenir of the stories you’ve enjoyed, a book collection of stories, a hand puppet, a handmade folk craft, or snacks and drinks.

What should I not bring?
• Any type of photographic, digital, or analog recording equipment. Please respect our artist's work and image. • Please no pets.

Is there food?
Frisco Square has several restaurants next to the Plaza. There will also be fair food available at concessions stands near the event tents. You are welcome to bring a picnic if you prefer.

Why did the Festival’s name change?
We changed the festival’s name from the Frisco Storytelling Festival to the Lone Star Storytelling Festival on the Festival’s fifth anniversary in 2008. The new name reflects the fact that those who attend and sponsor the event are from all over Texas and beyond.
