Volunteer Application
Attention all volunteers: now is the time to register to volunteer for the Lone Star Storytelling Festival!

All volunteers must be registered with the City of Frisco before they can be considered for volunteer opportunities. You may review the job descriptions below to see the exciting opportunities available at the Festival this year. Remember, it is first come, first served. Don't delay in registering to be a part of Frisco's greatest event of the year!
Job descriptions
Applicants must be willing to work outside, be on their feet, and do light to heavy lifting during volunteer hours.
Arts and Crafts Assistant (Sat. Oct. 10, daytime only) Help within assigned area, assist craft demonstrators by making sure they have needed supplies, assist demonstrators by packing up once their event is over, change festival signage throughout the day as events change, wash down tables, pack up power cords and other electrical equipment in between events, set up equipment for events, set up arts and crafts tents, assemble tables, signage, check power, move tables and chairs, prepare plaza for Saturday, put away arts and craft supplies and other related duties.
Bus Attendee (Fri. Oct. 9, daytime only) Hand out festival schedule placards to teachers of classes coming off of the buses, direct buses as they enter Frisco Square, assist teachers in loading and unloading students on and off of buses, guide teachers and children to their correct bus stops and locations, direct buses out of Frisco Square, and other duties.
Clean Up Crew / Site Help (Sat. Oct.10, Sun. Oct. 11) Bring festival materials into the library from the plaza, pick up trash, straighten up plaza, pack up the festival store, fold table skirts and put them into boxes, pack up power cords and lighting equipment, check and empty trash as needed, answer questions, and other related duties.
Festival Store Attendant (Fri. evening Oct. 9, Sat. Oct. 10) Sell storyteller merchandise, maintain the festival store, clean up the store area, pick up trash, assist tellers with author signings, assist staff with other store duties.
Green Room Host (Thurs. Oct. 8, Fri. Oct. 9, Sat. Oct. 10) Maintain the green room for the tellers while they are at the festival, ensure the green room is peaceful and that festival goers do not disturb the tellers (apart from teller guests), set out meals and refreshments, assist Teller Hosts.
Plaza Setup (Wed. Oct. 7, Thurs. Oct. 8) Set up the plaza for the festival, prepare and assemble tents and stages, move equipment, and other related duties.
Sponsor Reception (Thurs. Oct 8 only) Arrange chairs, set up tables, prepare room for sponsor reception, set up tables with food, present a professional appearance, clean up sponsor reception area, take down chairs, put away table and table cloths, and other related duties.
Tent Usher (Fri. Oct. 9, Sat. Oct. 10) Seat students in an organized manner on field trip day, guide festival goers so that no seats are left empty, assist teachers during water breaks, assist the emcee and teachers with exiting the tents, assist with the dismissal of the students, and other related duties.
Tent Manager (Fri. Oct. 9, Sat. Oct.10) Be point of contact between assigned tent and the rest of the festival, use a radio to receive important information and instructions, ensure that the audience stays respectful and make sure children remain in their seats, enforce the "no pictures or recordings" rule and make sure ONLY those wearing a press pass or parents of student tellers take pictures, straighten chairs, pick up trash in between sessions, and other related duties.
Ticket Sales / Checker (Fri. Oct 9, Sat. Oct 10) Greet festival goers as they arrive, handle ticket sales, make sure "will call" tickets are available for pick up, check to make sure festival goers have the right ticket for the show they are attending, hand out lanyards and instruct festival goers on how to wear them, remind festival goers that recording, videotaping and picture taking are not permitted in the tents (those wearing a press pass are the only exception), and other related duties.
Volunteer Sign In (Thurs. Oct 8, Fri. Oct. 9, Sat. Oct. 10) Greet volunteers as they arrive, make sure volunteers sign in, instruct volunteers on how to wear their lanyards and that lanyards must be worn at all times, and other related duties.
