Study Trip Day, 2011
The 2011 Lone Star Storytelling Festival school study day trip is Friday, Oct. 14 at the top-notch Dr. Pepper Arena!
Information for schools (FISD 4th grades, PISD-Great Lakes Academy, LEISD-Zellars):
Before the event… 1. Be sure to remind your students to wear their school shirts and wear layers to be sure you can manage different temperatures. Remember, Dr. Pepper Arena is a hockey arena! 2. Discuss audience etiquette and good listening with your kids before coming to the Festival. 3. Know your seat assignment! Each school will be seated together, even if you arrive in different busses.
When your bus arrives at Dr. Pepper Arena… 1. Here is a map that shows how busses will arrive at Dr. Pepper Arena. The orange arrows represent busses, and the blue arrows represent lines of students walking into the building. Please note that there are three lines, each going into three separate entrances into the building. All students who exit busses parked on the north side of the building will enter the main entrance, all students who exit busses parked on the west side of the building will enter through the parking garage, and all students who exit busses parked on the south side of the building will enter through the loading dock. That means that the rest of your school may come in through a different entrance—don’t wait around for them, just head inside and to your seats. Your campus is assigned seats together in the arena. For schools coming by car, pleasesee the map and instructions sent to your coordinator for this event.

2. FISD won’t be leaving on the same bus you arrived in, so don’t leave any of your belongings on the bus. 3. When you exit your bus, please make sure that you have a teacher or librarian both at the beginning of your line and at the end of it. 4. Follow the leader! Dr. Pepper Arena staff, Frisco Library staff, and Frisco Library volunteers will help direct you where you need to be. Event staff will all be in red shirts – so if you have a question, you know who to look for!
Inside the Arena… 1. Staff will direct you to the area to which your school is assigned (again, please come aware of your seating assignment). 2. Below is a chart that shows where each school is seated. A map of the seating charts can be found here for MORNING and AFTERNOON.

Exiting the Arena… 1. The emcee will call your school by name when it’s time for you to go. 2. Follow staff instructions for exiting. 3. Do your headcount just before you load onto a bus so that you don’t hold up the bus queue. 4. Once everyone is accounted for, load your students into the first available bus for your ISD. Tell your driver which school to take you to. It’s like a big, yellow taxi!
If you have any questions… 1. Call or email your school contact for this trip or contact Bonnie at bbarber@friscotexas.gov.
See you on Oct. 14th for some stellar stories!
